Set up Quappy on your Mac

A few first-time steps, then you’re ready to quack.

Download Quappy, then follow the steps below.

Apple Silicon · Unnotarized · No separate .NET installation

Quappy hasn’t been notarized by Apple, so macOS may ask you to approve its first launch. Follow these steps only if you trust your download.

Open the download and install Quappy

Open the Quappy .dmg file in Downloads. Drag the Quappy duck icon onto the Applications folder beside it.
Open Quappy, then click Done

Open Applications and double-click Quappy. If Apple says it cannot verify that Quappy is free of malware, click Done, not Move to Trash.

If Quappy opens without that warning, skip to step 4.
Allow Quappy in System Settings

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Security and click Open Anyway beside Quappy.

Approve with Touch ID or your Mac password if asked, then click Open. Quappy should open. If it doesn’t, open it again from Applications.

Let Quappy listen

Click the duck switch. If permission is needed, Quappy opens Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring for you. Turn on Quappy and approve the Mac prompt.

Choose Quit & Reopen if offered. Otherwise, quit Quappy and open it again from Applications.

Quappy missing from the list? Click + and choose Quappy from Applications.

Wake up your duck

Click or slide the duck switch until it says “Ready to make some noise.” Type, click, or scroll in another app. Your keyboard is now quappy.

Minimize to keep Quappy running. Switch the duck off to stop listening.

Try opening Quappy from Applications once more, dismiss the warning, then return to Privacy & Security and scroll down.

If macOS says the app will damage your computer or is damaged, stop and check the download instead. Don’t turn off Mac security protections.

Quappy never saves or sends what you type. No microphone or screen-recording permission is needed.
